The documentary follows Lucien Civette, a prominent figure of the Teko people, as he journeys up the Camopi River in French Guiana. Accompanied by young Tekos, he traces back the path of old villages now-vanished to the time to rekindle an essential mythical and historical memory. This journey is as much of a transmission gesture as an invitation, to the audience, to radically rethink their gaze on the Amazon rainforest: an inhabited territory, shaped over centuries, far away from the persistent myht of the “virgin forest”.
The broadcast was followed by a panel discussion featuring Jammes Panapuy, representative of the Teko people; Damien Davy, an anthropologist at the CNRS; and Hugo Rousselin, the documentary’s writer and director. This provided an opportunity to share their intersecting perspectives on the cultural, political, and environmental challenges currently facing indigenous territories.

“Solo” by Amine Boukhris continues on its journey with a triple succes at the Carthage Film Festival !
After some noticed entries at the Al Jazeera Documentary Industry Day in 2023 Sarajevo, the Sunny Side of the Doc at La Rochelle and the DOK Leipzig in 2024 Leipzig, the film project was presented as part of the Carthage Pro section of the Carthage Film Festival.
